Candela Tulum Named As A Finalist For SFMOMA’s Permanent Architecture Exhibit

November 29, 2021

Candela Tulum’s award-winning architects Salvador Macias and Magui Peredo of Estudio Macias Peredo have been selected for inclusion in San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art’s permanent architecture exhibit. Candela received special interest from the museum’s curatorial group, which integrated drawings and models from Candela Tulum.

SFMOMA, which considered finalists based on pivotal architectural and design portfolios that have influenced contemporary culture, has become a leader in recognizing significant architecture within museum collections.

Magui Peredo described the vision for Candela Tulum as “the need to create contemporary villas that are immersed in the sacred jungle”—a challenge that required seemingly clashing ideals to merge together into a singular, melodic residential offering.

The result is groundbreaking architecture and design at Candela Tulum that transcends generations, acting at once as both an homage to ancient Mayan practices and as a beacon for contemporary living in the modern day.
